Karina Avelar is a licensed nail technician who’s been with A+ Nail School since 2019. From student to office assistant, media relations coordinator, and instructor, Karina has worked at multiple salons across the city as a nail technician who offers everything from your basic mani/pedi to GelX. Her favorite part of doing & teaching nails is nail art.

Hi, my name is Karina. I immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 and was always unsure of what would be next for me after high school. Beating all of the odds against me as a teenage mom. I graduated high school and became a Licensed nail technician. I chose A+ nail school because as soon as I walked in I was greeted right away and felt that the vibe was perfect for me. I did tour other schools but none of them were as great as A+.  I’ve been with A+ Nail School since 2019. I have seen A+ grow from a small salon space in Chicago to our current school space in Franklin Park.  I went from a student to instructor and now manager here at A+. Throughout the years I’ve worked at multiple salons across the city as a nail technician that offers everything from your basic mani/pedi to GelX. My favorite part of doing/teaching nails is nail art. I love to express myself through my nail art but what I love most is showing my students that they can also create beautiful nail art with the supplies they already have.
